Västberga helicopter robbery

On this day in 2009 the first helicopter robbery in Sweedish history. This all began in the early morning when a Bell 206 helicopter was stolen from a base in Norrtälje, Sweden. Landing on the roof of G4S Cash service buildings the robbers break reinforced glass using small bombs and sledgehammers. Once inside they quickly stole bags of money and hoisted them onto the helicopter. The stroke on the 25th of the month, just one day before employees Swedes receive their monthly salaries. The amount stolen is unknown, but the robbers could have gotten tens of millions of dollars. Seven people have since been sentenced in connection with the robbery.
