On this day in 2008 Japanese record producer, Tetsuya Komuro was arrested for committing fraud. Komuro, known for bringing dance music to Japan in the 90’s became one of the countries most successful pop musicians selling more than 170 million records. Promising to sell investors ¥500,000,000 of his catalogue, that he had already sold the instead took the money and used it to pay alimony. Pleading guilty in court, Komuro received a suspended three-year prison sentence with the owner of his recorded label triple what was owed. Komuro sentence has since been acquitted.
