1975 AIA building hostage crisisMembers of the Japanese Red Army with intent to start a worldwide revolution by overthrowing the Japanese government entered a United States embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The gunmen held 53 people mostly Malaysians for four days.

The JRA demanded that if their imprisoned leaders were not released from prison, they would massacre all 53 hostages.

The Japanese government, unable to see a way out released five of the JRA prisoners. Upon meeting their requests, they were flown to Libya along with the captors on Japanese Airlines and sheltered by Muammar Gaddafi.
