    Animal hoarding is an all-too-common phenomenon. This series investigates the illness and often criminal act that is animal hoarding. Once described as 'collectors' whose good intentions had gone awry, animal hoarders are now recognised as individuals whose mental illness or compulsion is causing criminal behaviour with horrific consequences for animals, the hoarders' families and their communities. Every hoarder's behaviour translates into severe, even fatal, neglect for the animals in their custody. Most cases remain unaddressed until it becomes a crime. This docu-reality series delves into the hearts and minds of individuals afflicted with this disorder and provides a voice for the family and friends who are determined to prevent their loved ones from spinning further out of control. Cameras enter the homes of the men and women and discover what it's like for the animals and people who live in these toxic and criminal conditions. The series will explore the reasons why these individuals turned to hoarding and how their problems became unmanageable, taking over their lives, while coordinating task-force interventions by psychologists, animal welfare experts, veterinarians, friends and families help individuals recognise the root of their issues and take healthy steps to address their animal hoarding.
