Nurse Brendan Clifford - 'The Gentle Wit'
Brendan realised his passion for helping people while working a part-time job as a hospital care assistant in his homeland of Ireland. He was doing a science degree at the time, but quickly moved to Edinburgh to pursue nursing. Four years ago, Brendan moved to Sydney to nurse at St. Vincent’s. While he was only meant to stay for a 6 month contract, he enjoyed his time at the hospital so much that he decided to stay. Brendan moved to the Emergency Department 2 years ago and has found the work there to be especially rewarding. He particularly enjoys the constant interaction he has with people and the ability he has to make some small difference to another person’s day. He has also found his dry sense of humour to be an asset.
I like to think I offer a sense of humour to the department. Taking yourself too seriously isn’t healthy.
